History

Long-term clients have fueled our continued growth.

A trio of accomplished commercial real estate developers and investment veterans founded CHM, LLC in 2011. Budd Cullom, Jim Harrison and Mike McGuffin each have experience that spans decades and market cycles.

Throughout their careers in the highly networked development community, the three men have been competitors and occasional collaborators. In 2009, during the height of the recession, the trio teamed for an undertaking many thought would be impossible.

They pursued a struggling 133-acre, mixed-use project in the affluent West Knoxville community. After successfully winning the bid to purchase the property through an online auction, the partners raised significant capital with local investors based solely on a handshake and their reputations. This successful project today is known as Northshore Town Center and is home to Target and Publix Super Market.

Since then, CHM has developed a variety of retail properties throughout the southeast. Whether it’s a single-tenant, build-to-suit project or a regional power-anchored shopping center, we bring innovation and attention to detail to each venture.

Our honesty, fairness and work ethic have led to many long-term partnerships and relationships with popular regional and national retailers including Publix, Target, Walmart, Kroger, Academy Sports, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Costco, Panera Bread, Chipotle and others.

Since 2011, CHM has completed more than $100 million of retail projects totaling more than 500,000 square feet.
